A Covid-19 vaccination pop up clinic will be set up here in the Finsbury Park Mosque, as part of the ongoing efforts to encourage eligible residents to get their jab.
The clinic, run by the NHS staff, is a local partnership between NHS, Finsbury Park Mosque and Islington Council.
The NHS team have already vaccinated hundreds of patients in the past few weeks. They are experienced in rapidly setting up effective vaccination services in order to meet the needs of communities in Islington and other Boroughs.
Partners are working together to give the facts about the vaccine to build trust in our communities explaining that it is safe and effective, and that the vaccine is the best form of protection from Covid-19 and our best chance to return to a normal way of life.
If you are 56 or over, an eligible frontline health or social care worker, clinically vulnerable and aged 18-60 or an unpaid carer of a clinically vulnerable person and have not had a Covid-19 vaccination already, to book an appointment, you can either call the “We are Islington” helpline on 020 7527 8222. Lines are open every day from 9am – 5pm. or the Mosque number on 020 7424 5252. This free service is available for both men and women.
Mohammed Kozbar, Chairman of the Finsbury Park Mosque, said:
“As we have a responsibility toward our local communities, we decided to open our centre for a Covid-19 pop up clinic. In consultation with Islamic scholars and medical professionals, we believe that vaccination is the best way to combat the pandemic and return to our normal way of life. In Islam, preservation of life is of the utmost importance.”
Richard Watts, the leader of Islington Council said:
“ It’s vital that everyone who is eligible takes the free, effective and safe Covid vaccination. Millions of people across the country have now been vaccinated and the vaccines have been proven to be safe.
I want to thank Finsbury Park Mosque and the NHS for arranging for vaccinations to take place in the heart of our community. Finsbury Park Mosque has a proud record of supporting Islington and this support for the NHS is great community leadership.”
Clare Henderson, Director of Integration, Islington Directorate said:
“We are delighted to be working with Finsbury Park Mosque to bring the covid vaccination programme nearer to local communities – this is such a vital step in our recovery from the pandemic and will help to keep local people safe as we start to see restrictions lifted. Thank you to our colleagues at the Mosque and in primary care who have worked hard to make these clinics happen ”
