In partnership with Jannaty women organisation, Minority Matters and Gulbur Foundation, we welcomed the Afghani refugees who recently live in Islington. Around 55 Afghani refugees mainly children, enjoyed the day in the Mosque and received a warm welcome from our staff and volunteers. Families and Children enjoyed the food & drinks, the face painting, Henna activities, colouring and table tennis.

A round table discussions being organised about the life in London, schools, shops, local areas and things that matters to them.

We also provided them with information about our lovely borough Islington, local services as well as information about the Mosque and its services. A trip being arranged for the adult males to the Emirates stadium and the surrounding area.

One of the fathers quoted:

“Thank you very much for the lovely time you arranged for all the families. it was so nice for families to come together to the mosque and bring smiles to our children faces by arranging all these activities including face painting, henna and lovely food. All kids enjoyed the gifts and surprise packages. We thank the mosque for the efforts in paying special attention to the refugees of Afghanistan. We would love to come again in the future.”

Gifts, clothes and toys were distributed to the families and all children at the end of the event.
