As you may already be aware, there is a petition going around to protect religious slaughter. This coming Monday, 23rd February 2015, our MPs will be holding a debate on non-stun slaughter and the promotion of animal welfare. This debate, if headed towards stunned slaughter, will be detrimental to our practice of religious slaughter for Halal meat.
The MCB are urging the community to sign this e-petition and to contact their local MP to encourage them to attend the debate, and speak out on behalf of the Muslim community. You can find out how to contact your MP here.
We would like to request you and your organisation to print this distribution slip and distribute by hand at Friday prayer tomorrow. In order to save paper, we have fitted the content to each quarter of a page so four slips are fitted into one A4 page, which can be cut out and distributed.
We all need to work together to protect our right for religious slaughter. The small form requests individuals to sign the e-petition and share with friends and family.
Please do print and make the number of copies needed for distribution tomorrow. Please do mention the petition in Friday’s Khutba and encourage members of your congregation to sign. Please feel free to leave some on reception/notice boards as well.
We will be grateful if you can kindly acknowledge this letter and let us know that you/your organisation are on board.
Thank you for your help, as always.
Wassalaam,
Muslim Council of Britain
