Finsbury Park Mosque and Aksaa Host Autism and ADHD Workshop
Finsbury Park Mosque in partnership with Aksaa hosted a valuable workshop on βAn Islamic Approach to Raising and Teaching Children with Autism or ADHD.β
More than 20 parents, grandparents, Madrasah teachers and community representatives attended the session, delivered by Br. Kaushar Tai, Director of Aksaa, Positive Coach and Training Consultant.
The workshop explored autism and ADHD, practical strategies for communication, emotional regulation, behaviour and learning as well as ways to create more supportive environments for neurodivergent children including those learning the Qurβan.
A key focus was understanding neurodiversity from an Islamic perspective highlighting the importance of compassion, patience, dignity, inclusion and supporting families within our community. The session also included Islamic spiritual practices and duas to help parents manage stress and challenges.
Participants found the workshop informative, practical and relevant with the combination of professional guidance and Islamic teachings particularly appreciated.
