Finsbury Park Mosque and Arsenal FC hosted its second annual Iftar Reception yesterday at the Emirates stadium, bringing together a diverse group of distinguished guests, MPs, Councillors, dignitaries, community members, and faith leaders.

In his opening remarks, Khaled Oumar, Trustee of the Finsbury Park Mosque, welcomed the attendees and expressed his gratitude for their presence and support. He extended a special thanks to Arsenal player Mohamed Elneny for joining this year’s Iftar.

The annual Iftar Reception was graced by the presence of distinguished guests from politicians, including our local MP Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn, the Leader of Islington Council Cllr Kaya Comer Schwartz, the Mayor of Islington Cllr Gary Heather, Cllr Bashir Osman, Cllr Caroline Russell, Rabbi Mandy Korer, the Chair of Islington faiths Forum Elizabeth Chappel and Superintendent Jack May-Robinson.

The event also brought together young people, representatives from the police force, and faith leaders from different communities, highlighting the Mosque’s commitment to fostering interfaith dialogue and community cohesion.

Mohammed Kozbar, Chairman of the Finsbury Park Mosque, emphasised the Mosque’s role in the community, stating, “We played a vital role in shaping the Finsbury Park Mosque into the beacon of faith and unity it is today. Through the community efforts, we now stand in a Community Centre, a Mosque accommodating over 2000 worshippers at a time, a testament  to the unwavering commitment, extraordinary dedication, and exceptional resilience of our community..”
